Four seasons, six months, six songs, one EP – From Those Who Were There, released on April 19.
To celebrate we’re putting on a launch gig in The Holy Trinity Church, an amazing venue in Leeds city centre, with some of the other Hope House Records bands coming out to support us.
March of Dimes
Samuel Foxton Wells
The Tesses
Louis Le Prince & The Projectors
There’ll be discount copies of the EP for sale (ahead of launch!) and much fun and frippery.
Tickets are £4adv, more on the door, and you can buy them directly from any of us or online at WeGotTickets.
Check out Leeds musical genius Lone Wolf and his slightly-inspired-by-sledgehammer video.
I’ve loved Lone Wolf ever since I heard him on the On The Bone complication a while back (as Paul Marshall) and since he’s signed to Bella Union he just keeps getting better and better.
He’s terrific live too – saw him playing supporting Jose Gonzales at the brud, and he was nice enough to have a wee chat to me afterwards.
If this is the sign of things to come we have a real star on our hands – Can’t wait for the album!
If you’re on Twitter he’s @iamlonewolf and you can hear more at http://www.myspace.com/thisislonewolf
It’s St Paddy’s Day you see, and it’s a little known fact that St Patrick was also the patron saint of Foxes and Convicts*. So to that end it’s lucky that Foxes falls on March 17th this year!
Coming up this month
CHARLIE BARNES

MARCH OF DIMES

Hear exclusive tracks from the new EP “From Those Who Were There”
CHRIS MARTIN
Not *that* Chris Martin, but *A* Chris Martin nonetheless.
See you down there. Leprechaun outfits optional.
Seanx
*Actually, I hear that St Leonard is patron saint of Convicts. I don’t think there’s a patron saint of Foxes.
We’ll be back with more Leeds related musical frippery soon, but just had to share this amazing new video by OK Go. (You know, the guys from the treadmills).
Good song too, but these guys are just amazing at what they do with music videos. Top props!
Update: from @feliciaday – Article on how Ok Go did that video, and links to “Making of” Videos for it: http://bit.ly/9jPqn9 Very cool.
We’re not all about the folk and acoustic guitars here at Hope House. Sometimes we like to get down and boogy. Here’s a tuney by Kasabian remixed by the quite brilliant Mono-key.
It’s like someone reached into @TheFagCasanova‘s head and put it in a youtube video.
Check out their myspace page – especially the fabulous remix of Sun Goes Down.

This month, Tag Team Preacher popped in to talk about their new lineup & recordings, and play an acoustic version of one of their tracks.
Poor Hannah Trigwell was striken down with the lurgy so couldn’t pop in, but was nice enough to send us an exclusive track (that won’t even be on her upcoming EP) to keep us going until she plays Foxes on Wednesday at Milo.
Hannah will be back to record a song for us in the next few months.
I just found this vid of when Gang of Eagles played the milo night we put on each month – it’ll give you an idea what sort of night to expect, or to relive one of our past glories!
So, it’s a bumper Foxes and Convicts tonight to shake off those January blues, and it’s looking like it’ll be reet busy, so get yourself down for 8pm to grab a seat and a cold one
Coming up tonight we’ve got:
Samuel Foxton Wells
– a charming, old-fashioned and eccentric trip through the English countryside (Leeds Music Scene)
The Tesses
– First gig in 6 months for this wonderful reclusive band
Mi Mye
– Mi Mye are certainly a band to watch out for (ForFolksSake.com)
Just Handshakes (We’re Brittish)
– a slice of contemporary twee and enough keyboards from the [80's] era to fill a bucket with tunes.’
(Whiskas/Forward Russia & Leeds Guide)
